
Zalesky Added to Riverside Sports' Wall of Distinction

RIVERSIDE, Calif. – California Baptist University wrestling Coach Lennie Zalesky was added to the Riverside Sport Hall of Fame's Wall of Distinction on Saturday.
Zalesky was honored during a ceremony at the Riverside City Hall in the Council Chambers. The Riverside Sport Hall of Fame is dedicated to fostering an appreciation for the role sports play in contributing to the quality of life in Riverside. The Hall of Fame honors athletes, coaches, athletic administrators and community leaders who have brought fame or honor to the City of Riverside through their involvement in athletics.
Over the last seven years, Zalesky has led CBU to a 63-42-1 record and four top-three national finishes, including third-place finishes at the NCAA Division II Championships the last two years. The Lancers have won two conference championships and to the D-II Super Region IV Championship the last two years.
Zalesky was inducted into the Iowa Wrestling Hall of Fame and the California Wrestling Hall of Fame last year. He was named the D-II Coach of the Year in 2017
Zalesky's wrestlers have earned a total of 30 All-American awards and seven individual national championships, including three at the NCAA level, at CBU. Zalesky came to Riverside after nine years as the head coach at NCAA Division I UC Davis.
In his wrestling days, Zalesky was a three-time NCAA All-American and a former assistant coach at powerhouse Iowa. He helped the Hawkeyes win four-straight national championships, and he notched a record of 73-2-1 in his last two seasons. He was twice the national runner-up at 142 pounds and won three Big Ten titles.
