Lancers Race Past Beavers, 87-48

RIVERSIDE, Calif. – California Baptist used hot shooting and dominant rebounding to defeat Caltech, 87-48, in the CBU Events Center on Saturday night.
Sophomore Mike Henn, a transfer from UC Davis, tied his CBU career-high with 15 points making 3-of-4 from three point range along with four rebounds and two assists.
In the second half, the Lancers heated up from outside going 6-of-13 from three while going a perfect 18-of-18 from the free throw line. CBU outscored the Beavers, 52-29.
The Lancers finished the game going 24-of-25 (96 percent) from the free throw line while Caltech converted 9-of-13 from the charity stripe. CBU outrebounded Caltech, 43-28.
CBU sophomore Milan Acquaah, a transfer from Washington State, entered tonight's contest averaging 22.1 points, 4.7 rebounds, 3.9 assists and 2.2 steals per game. There was not another player in NCAA Division I averaging more than Acquaah in all four statistical categories. Acquaah registered 13 points, five rebounds, two steals and an assist in limited minutes (19:53) tonight.
Rowell finished with 12 points and three rebounds off the bench for the Lancers.
Caltech was led by Spencer Schneider with 12 points and seven rebounds. Gokul Srinivasaragavan added 11 points for the Beavers.
CBU improved to 5-5 on the year. The Lancers will take an eight-day break before resuming play in Louisiana on Dec. 17 at Southeastern Louisiana and Dec. 19 at Southern University.

The Lancers surpassed 100 made three pointers for the season when sophomore Ty Rowell knocked down a trey midway through the second half. Entering the day, there were only nine NCAA Division I programs in the country with 100 or more made treys. CBU shot 9-of-23 from beyond the arc and now have made 103 on the year. Both teams started out sluggish with the score at 9-8 with 12:39 on the clock. The Lancers outpaced Caltech, 24-11, to finish out the half. CBU held a 35-19 advantage at the break. The Beavers shot 4-of-23 (17.4%) from the field while the Lancers shot 13-of-27 (48.1%) in the first 20 minutes of action.Entering today, there were only 9 teams in division 1 with 100+ 3-pointers made on the season.
