RESULTS
FRESNO, Calif. — On a hot day at the PacWest Track and Field Championship Meet, California Baptist University qualified multiple Lancers for the finals.
Pierre-Louis Detourbe took second in his 1500-meter prelim race to qualify for the finals. He finished with a time of four minutes, 2.12 seconds, while McMarshall Hartzenburg finished in 4:05.56 to also qualify. Simon Bedard (4:05.60), William Ernst (4:03.35), Mirco Zenzen (4:04.58) and Anthony Lozano (4:05.93) will also compete in the finals on Saturday.
Mike Alukunyang and Bedard also earned spots in Saturday's 800-meter finals. Alukunyang crossed the finish line in 1:55.23, with Bedard right behind in 1:55.95.
Detourbe also ran the 3K steeplechase and took second place with a time of 9:29.44. Dennis Messmer and Michael Callaway battled it out for third and fourth, with Messmer (9:49.81) just edging out Callaway (9:49.82) by .01 seconds. Detourbe and Messmer each earned themselves All-PacWest honors with their finishes.
In the final race of the night, Jonah Ross and Jayden Emerson each finished in the top-five of the 5K. Ross took fourth in 33:05.08, while Emerson came in fifth in 33:25.29. Jacob Boatman clocked in at 33:40.26, while Elliot Choe crossed in 35:31.66.
The PacWest Championship Meet concludes tomorrow at Fresno Pacific.
