RESULTS
FRESNO, Calif. – On the first day of the PacWest Track and Field Championship Meet, California Baptist University saw its first champion crowned and multiple Lancers qualify for Saturday's finals.
Emeline Delanis kept up her speedy pace from last week and won the 3K steeplechase championship in record fashion, also earning herself All-PacWest honors. She clocked in at 10 minutes, 40.45 seconds, which beat out the previous meet (10:46.54) and stadium (10:47.28) records by six seconds or more, despite it not being her fastest time.
Kim Rabenstein took fourth, crossing the finish line in 11:14.84, while Morgan Spurlock took ninth in 11:51.87 to put three Lancers in the top-10.
CBU also had a ton of success in the 1500-meter prelims, qualifying all six runners for the final round on Saturday. Leanda du Bruyn took second in her heat by just .08 seconds, finishing in 4:45.51. Natalia Novak wasn't far behind, crossing the finish line in 4:46.90. Tori Dutchover took fourth in the heat with a time of 4:47.22.
