RIVERSIDE, Calif. — After leading California Baptist University to its best season yet – a fourth-straight PacWest Championship, first-ever West Region Championship and third-place finish at the NCAA Division II Championship – Emeline Delanis was named the PacWest Women's Cross Country Scholar-Athlete of the Year Tuesday.
It caps off a stellar junior campaign for Delanis, a business administration major who maintained just under a 3.9 cumulative grade-point average. The PacWest Scholar-Athlete of the Year awards recognize one student-athlete from each of the PacWest's 15 sponsored sports for their academic and athletic achievements during the year.
The honorees were selected in a vote by the PacWest sports information directors. Each of the winners are now eligible for the PacWest Male and Female Scholar-Athlete of the Year awards, which will be announced on Wednesday.
Delanis was named the PacWest Runner of the Year after winning the individual PacWest championship with a time of 21 minutes, 11.3 seconds. She went on to grab All-West Region and All-American honors after helping the Lancers win their first-ever West Region Championship and finish third at the D-II Championship – CBU's highest finish ever. The France native took fifth overall at nationals with a time of 20:57.6.
Earlier this year, Delanis was named to both the PacWest All-Academic Team and Google Cloud Academic All-District team, with the All-America team being announced Wednesday.
