Former Lancer Earns Spot in U.S. Olympic Marathon Trials

RIVERSIDE – Former California Baptist University cross country runner, Alana (Enabnit) Scarano, recently qualified for the USA Olympic Marathon Trials.
Scarano qualified for the USA Olympic Marathon trials by running a time of two hours, 44 minutes and 28 seconds at the 2019 Indython in Indianapolis.
The 2020 Olympic Team Trials – Marathon will be held in Atlanta, Georgia (the host of the 1996 Summer Olympics) on February 29, 2020. The course will start and finish in Centennial Olympic Park and take competitors through Midtown Atlanta, Piedmont Park, Historic Old Fourth Ward, and underneath Atlanta's iconic Olympic rings and cauldron. The top-three finishers in the 2020 Olympic Team Trials – Marathon will be named to the 2020 U.S. Marathon team. They will also receive part of a prize purse totaling $480,000.
Scarano was a valuable member of the cross country team in her Lancer career. She finished in the top-20 at the 2015 PacWest Championship to help CBU secure its second title in what is now a six-year conference title streak. She also competed for CBU at the NCAA Division II West Region and NCAA D-II Championship meets that season. During the 2016 track season, Scarano earned All-PacWest honors in the 10K with a second place (38:14.78) finish at the PacWest Track Championships.
