RIVERSIDE, Calif. – Both California Baptist University men's and women's teams earned the 2018 NCAA Division I Cross Country Scholar Team awards on Thursday from the U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association.
CBU's men posted a 3.06 team grade-point average, while the women maintained a 3.58 to reap the honor in their first year as a Division I member. Overall, there were 427 teams that earned All-Academic distinction by maintaining a cumulative GPA of at least 3.0 on a 4.0 scale.
It continues a great D-I debut for the Lancers. This past fall, the women won the Western Athletic Conference championship to become the first CBU program to win a conference crown in the Division I era. The men also had four top-five team finishes in 2018, including a win at the UC Riverside Highlander Invitational.
CBU opens its distance track season this Saturday at the Pomona-Pitzer Invitational.
