Lancers Keep Streak Rolling Through Seattle

SEATTLE – Five players scoring in double figures and a second-half surge propelled California Baptist University to its seventh-straight win, an 86-64 victory at Seattle U on Thursday night.
It tightens the Lancers' grip on second place in the Western Athletic Conference standings, as they have now won of 10 of their last 11. The Redhawks fall to 1-26, 1-13, with three games left in the regular season.
Ane Olaeta led all players on the floor Thursday, with 19 points to go with seven assists, while Britney Thomas pulled down a sizable double-double of 13 points, 17 rebounds and three blocks. Lexy Ram scored 18 and secured eight rebounds, and Emma Meriggioli and Delacy Brown each scored 12.
Meriggioli had a game-high eight assists, while Georgia Dale tallied six points, five assists and five rebounds.
Despite the 22-point win, the Redhawks actually held a seven-point lead, 34-27, halfway through the second quarter of their Senior Night on Thursday. The Lancers closed out the quarter on a 14-5 run, thanks to four three-pointers in the final 3:37 to take a 41-39 lead into halftime.
Ram hit two of those threes to give her six points in that run, while Olaeta scored five and Meriggioli hit the other triple.
A 9-2 run sparked by five more points from Olaeta gave CBU its largest lead yet, 57-46, with 1:48 to play in the third.
The Lancers kept their intensity in the fourth quarter and never let their lead drop below nine. Overall, CBU outscored Seattle 45-25 over the final 20 minutes.
CBU heads to Utah Valley (14-12, 8-5) for a 3 p.m. game on Saturday. It will close out the regular season with two crucial home games against The University of Texas Rio Grande Valley (15-12, 9-5) and NM State (21-6, 13-1) next Thursday and Saturday at 6 p.m. and 1 p.m., respectively.
