CBU Wins Sixth of Last Seven at CSU

The Lancers defeated the Cougars 93-67, with the help of an 18-4 run to open the fourth quarter. Lexy Ram was key, scoring nine of those 18 points on a trio of three-pointers. The junior finished with a game-high 21 points on 6-of-8 shooting and 5-7 from three in 23 minutes.
"It's good to get a win on the road. Chicago State played pretty well and had a good third quarter to make things difficult, but we showed some resiliency to come out with the win," Coach Jarrod Olson said.
CBU has won six of its last seven games to improve to 12-10, 5-4 in the Western Athletic Conference, while the Cougars fall to 1-21, 1-8 in the conference. The Lancers will play at Kansas City on Saturday at noon Pacific. The Roos are tied for third place in the WAC with an 11-10, 5-3 record.
Six Lancers scored in double figures on Thursday. Ane Olaeta had a double-double for the second game in a row, with 12 points and 11 assists. Britney Thomas, the reigning WAC Player of the Week, put together an impressive line of 16 points on 8-for-12 shooting from the field, eight rebounds, three blocks and two steals in just 19 minutes.

Georgia Dale added 14 points (6-for-8) and five rebounds, while Caitlyn Harper and Tiena Afu finished with 13 and 10 points, respectively.
"We keep talking about the moving the ball and the more we do it the better we're going to be," said Olson, whose team had 21 assists.
The Lancers shot 60 percent from the field (36-60) in the win, while holding the Cougars to 29.6 percent (21-71). CBU also made 11 three-pointers and held its opponent to just five.
CBU opened the game on a 14-4 run, thanks to six points from Thomas and four each from Delacy Brown (seven points) and Olaeta. The Lancers pushed their lead out to as much as 25, 44-19, with 3:28 left in the first half. It came on a 16-4 run fueled by seven points from Dale.

Chicago State managed to come all the back to cut its deficit to eight in the third quarter. The Lancers managed to push their lead back out to 66-50 going into the fourth after they closed the third on an 8-3 run, thanks to three-pointers from Brown, Harper and a layup from Olaeta.

The Lancers kept building and stretched their lead out to 30 (84-54) with less than five minutes to play. In addition to Ram's nine points, Harper scored five and Olaeta had four in the 18-4 run that started the fourth.
"She missed one early but had the confidence in herself to keep shooting and got a hot streak going," Olson said of Ram's hot fourth quarter. "A lot of those were off some great passes from Ane. The ball was moving really well and Lex was getting a lot of catch-and-shoot threes. We expect her to knock them down and she was doing it."
