RIVERSIDE, Calif. – California Baptist University sophomore Milan Acquaah announced on Tuesday that he has declared for the 2019 NBA Draft.
"We are unbelievably excited for Milan," said CBU head coach Rick Croy. "This is exactly what the NBA Draft rules are in place for. Milan will be able to get feedback directly from NBA teams. We are proud that he is a Lancer."
In a statement tweeted by Acquaah, he said: "Today, I notified the NBA of my intentions to test the waters and declare for the 2019 NBA Draft without hiring an agent. I would like to thank God, my coaches, teammates and family for their support. I would also like to thank California Baptist University for the opportunity and support. #LanceUp"
Acquaah, a transfer from Washington State, was named the 2019 Western Athletic Conference Newcomer of the Year after leading the league in scoring with 19.0 points per game this season. He was also named First Team All-WAC and to the All-Newcomer Team. He also finished the season averaging 5.0 rebounds, 3.4 assists and 1.6 steals per game. With those averages, he ranked first in points, second in steals, ninth in assists and 13th in rebounds among WAC players. He scored 20 or more points in 18 games this season, including a career-high 36 points in a win over WAC champion and NCAA Tournament participant New Mexico State on Jan. 3.
