Honer Finishes 12th on Platform at Bruin Invite

LOS ANGELES – For the second day in a row, Evan Honer stamped his ticket to the finals for California Baptist University at the UCLA Bruin Diving Invitational on Saturday.
Honer secured a top-12 finish on the platform with a score of 549.25 points. He got better in each round, with a 273.85 in the prelims and a 275.40 in the finals. It updated his personal best on the platform to maintain his top-two score in the event in CBU history.
The Lancers will conclude the UCLA Diving Invite on Sunday with a 10:30 a.m. start. The men will compete on the 1-meter board and the women will be on the platform.
Zane Freeman also updated his career-best on the platform, with a 249.10 that put him just outside of qualifying for finals in 17th place.
The Lancer women continued to battle in a formidable field, and each finished in the top-37 on the 3-meter board. Madeline Wiese continued to lead the group of four by taking 31st (216.70). Madison Liu (202.25), Kiree Lowe (195.70) and Savannah Uhlir finished back-to-back-to-back from 35 to 37.
Overall, CBU posted head-to-head wins over opponents from Hawaii, New Mexico State, Cal, UNLV, Northern Arizona, Boise State, Pacific, Utah, Wyoming and Cal Poly.
