Lancers Victorious on Senior Day

RIVERSIDE -- California Baptist University celebrated Senior Day before its regular-season finale and continued that celebration postgame after defeating The University of Texas Rio Grande Valley, 73-70, on Saturday afternoon.
Senior Lexy Ram led all scorers in her final home game, with 24 points and also grabbed a team-high eight rebounds against the Vaqueros. Ram had 10 of her 24 points in the fourth quarter, including two free throws with under five seconds left to seal the game.
Georgia Dale and Ane Olaeta eclipsed double-digit scoring, as well, with 17 and 16 points respectively. They both assistied on six baskets each, but Olaeta edged Dale on rebounds, six to five.
The game was tight throughout. UTRGV held the largest lead of seven points for just a moment in the first quarter, while CBU's largest lead was just six for a flash in the third. In total, the game saw five ties and 11 lead changes, with four of those changes coming in the fourth quarter.
The Lancers trailed by two with just under four minutes left in the game after a Vaquero three-pointer. A combination of Dale, Olaeta and Ram outscored UTRGV 10-5 in the final three-and-a-half minutes to earn the final home win of the 2019-2020 season.
