Lancers End WAC and Regular Season with Battle at Dixie State

ST. GEORGE – California Baptist University volleyball closed out the regular and Western Athletic Conference season with its third-straight road match at Dixie State on Saturday.
The Lancers battled before falling to the Trailblazers on their Senior Day in four sets (25-19 25-16, 18-25, 25-18) in Bruce Arena. Despite the loss, the Lancers have matched their best-ever finish in the WAC with a top-four finish in the West Division with 13-11 overall and 8-6 conference records. Dixie State ends its season with 7-15, 6-8 records.
Leah Pease logged a double-double of 18 assists, 12 digs and an ace in the match for CBU. Fellow setter Hana Okuhara had 12 assists, six digs and an ace.
Scherine Dahoue had a team-high 10 kills, while Tesa Oaks had nine kill, seven digs and two aces. Four Lancers had at least six kills in the match, with Christine Graf (Seven) and Anouk van Noord (six).
NM State locked up the WAC West Division regular-season title with a win over Chicago State, which gave the Aggies 19-8, 10-4 records. The Cougars (17-9, 9-5) and Grand Canyon (17-6, 9-5) finished tied for second in the West Division standings, while Utah Valley tied CBU with 13-12, 8-6 records.
CBU now has to wait and see if its season will continue, which will happen if it it's selected to compete in the 2021 National Invitational Volleyball Championship. Selection day for the postseason tournament is Sunday, Nov. 28. The Lancers were selected for the tournament in their debut WAC and NCAA Division I season in 2018.
