RIVERSIDE --- California Baptist University completed its five-game homestand against Northern Colorado on Sunday, as the Lancers took down the Bears, 74-70.
With the win, the Lancers improve to 5-0 on the season – the best start for the program in the DI era. CBU is joined by Duke, Marquette, Iona, Norfolk St., and San Francisco as the only 5-0 teams in the country up to this point.
Despite the close scoring game between the two teams, the Lancers led for 24 minutes throughout the contest, as the lead changed hands just six times with 11 ties on the night.
The turning point came with 5:14 left in the second half, as Taran Armstrong drew an and-one to give the Lancers back the lead. Up until that point, the Bears held a steady one-possession advantage for seven-straight minutes.

CBU spent the final three minutes on the free-throw line, going a perfect 6-6 to close out the game with the four-point victory.
Taran Armstrong, who entered the week as the TicketSmarter Western Athletic Conference Freshman of the Week, led the team with a career-high 19 points, going 7-11 from the field with six rebounds and five assists.
Dan Akin finished his night with his third double-double of the season, recording 13 points and 10 rebounds. Reed Nottage and Tre Armstrong both added 11 points each.
