COLORADO SPRINGS – The final day of action at the Air Force Diving Invitational did not disappoint as CBU divers Evan Honer, Kiree Lowe, and Madison Liu all had performances to remember.
Evan Honer cruised through the preliminaries, scoring a total of 286.25 points and a fourth-place finish and a spot in the finals. He clearly saved his best for last as the sophomore set a new CBU men's platform record with a score of 322.65, a score that would land him on the podium in third place.
Honer breaks the record of former Lancer great Garret Chew, who set the record of 299.50 during the 2018-19 season.
The women led off the day on the platform, and Lowe made her trip a perfect three-for-three in terms of making it out of the prelims. Her initial round of dives came in at a score of 197.15, good enough for sixth place and a trip to the finals later in the day. When her time came again, she shined, scoring a nearly identical 197.55, but this time walking away with a fourth-place finish, beating out divers from Air Force, Wyoming, and BYU.
Liu managed a new personal record point total of 181.90 to take 11th place out of 20 divers. In the springboard events, that would have netted her a consolation round of action, but today's platform field was smaller, and no consolation bracket was offered.
WHAT'S NEXT
Dive will begin preparations for the WAC Championships that will take place on February 25-27 in Flagstaff, Arizona, hosted by Northern Arizona University.
