RIVERSIDE – For the second outing in a row, California Baptist University men's water polo got a top-10 win over Loyola Marymount. The Lancers got it at home this time, as they defeated the Lions 14-6 in game one of Saturday's doubleheader at the Lancer Aquatics Center.
It is CBU's fifth-ever win over a top-10 opponent and second of the season. Sixth-ranked LMU came back and won the second game, 15-10, to split the doubleheader. The Lancers move to 2-2 on the year, while the Lions are now 3-2.
Zach Lowery continued to lead CBU with six points on the day, with four goals, two assists, two steals and two sprints won. PJ McDonough scored a team-high five goals on the day, while Hunter Barnett also had five points on four goals and an assist.
Gabe Thorne continued to be a standout in the cage for CBU, as he logged 19 saves to lead the Lancers to their 14-6 win Saturday.
