PHOENIX – A big night from Scherine Dahoue was not enough to lead California Baptist University volleyball to a road win at Grand Canyon on Thursday night.
Dahoue posted a match-high 17 digs and a team-high eight kills, but the Lancers fell to the Lopes in three sets (25-17, 25-14, 26-24). CBU moves to 6-6 and 1-1 in the Western Athletic Conference with the loss, while GCU improves to 10-2 and 2-1.
The Lancers will now travel to Las Cruces to face NM State on Saturday at 12 p.m. Pacific. The Aggies are the last undefeated team left in the WAC's Western Division at 12-3 overall and 3-0 in conference. They're going for their third-straight regular-season WAC championship, sixth in the last seven years and seventh all time this season.
Grand Canyon is back in second place in the WAC West Division after the Lopes have finished runner-up in the conference the last two season.
Paige Johnstone added 14 digs for CBU, while Christine Graf matched Dahoue with eight kills in Phoenix. Tesa Oaks also had six kills, three digs and two blocks. Cassidy Dennison tallied eight digs and two aces in the match, as well.
