FULLERTON – California Baptist University women's basketball team battled back from a 13-point deficit in the third quarter but could not complete the comeback at Cal State Fullerton, falling to the Titans by a score of 78-72.
Chloe Webb put up one of the most impressive stat lines of the season, scoring 20 points to go with 18 rebounds, the most single-game boards by any player in the WAC this season.
Dorcas Wu put up a career-high 17 points on Saturday, matching her single-game record of five three-pointers and seven rebounds. Kinsley Barrington returned to action to the tune of 13 points on 6-10 shooting, while Sila Finau added 11 points and six boards.
The Titans would build a 10-point lead by halftime, leading by a dozen in the third quarter. From that point, CBU would go on a 22-6 run to go up 52-48 with six minutes left in regulation. The Titans would not take another lead in the fourth but did tie the game twice, including a three-pointer with seven seconds left to send it into overtime.
The extra period started well enough for the Lancers, who built a quick four-point lead, but the Titans' defensive pressure broke through, leading to the home team closing the game on a 14-4 run.
California Baptist will close out the non-conference slate with one final home game, welcoming the Western Kentucky Hilltoppers to Riverside on Wednesday, December 21, at 11 a.m.
