Lancers Finish Out 2022 in Seattle

SEATTLE--- The Lancers and the Redhawks met for the tenth time in their programs' respective histories, with Seattle University winning 71-65 in a tight one. This game marked the conference opener for Seattle and was the second game for California Baptist University, who came off a loss in Phoenix to Grand Canyon.
The Lancers never led in the opening frame and got the lead down to one late in the half before a late Redhawks layup gave them a four-point halftime lead. Both teams shot the deep ball well, with CBU hitting seven and the Redhawks knocking in six.
In the second half, the Redhawks jumped out to their largest lead at 11 before the Lancers cut it back to five. The half was full of scoring runs by both teams, with CBU tying the game at one point. The Redhawks were able to close out the game with some vital defensive possessions late in the ball game.
Riley Battin led the team with 13 points and nine rebounds, and teammate Hunter Goodrick chipped with ten points and six rebounds off the bench.
Next up, the Lancers will host the Utah Tech Trailblazers for their home conference opener on Thursday, January 5, at 7 p.m.
