RIVERSIDE --- Former California Baptist University men's basketball standout De'jon Davis will continue his pro career in Germany this season, as he recently signed a contract with MLP Academics Heidelberg in Heidelberg, Germany.
Davis, a 6-foot-7 forward from Oakland, California, rounded out his second year professionally with Petrolina AEK in Larnaca, Cyprus. The All-WAC Defensive Team and Second Team selection became a familiar name for the Cypriot professional basketball club, where he averaged 15.7 points per game, 7.4 rebounds per game, and 1.4 assists per game. Davis helped guide Petrolina AEK to a league title and championship title, marking the second straight season the team held the Cup.
At the end of the season, he was named on the All-Imports Team and named Second Team All-League.
"I'm super excited to be going into my third season as a professional, especially in Germany," said Davis. "It's been a lot of hard work, but it's paying off, and my goal is to continue to move up every year, so this is a great step in my career."
MLP Academics Heidelberg was founded in 1952, and the team plays in the Basketball Bundesliga league. In the 2020-21 season, Heidelberg won its first-ever ProA championship and gained its promotion to the first-level Basketball Bundesliga (BBL).
"De'jon brings energy and physicality to our team," said Heidelberg head coach Joonas Lisalo. "He can play both big positions and is a great rebounder. Offensively, he can punish smaller defenders close to the basket as well as exploit his speed advantages against larger players. Defensively, he plays with great commitment and can defend different positions and situations. I had great conversations with De'jon and look forward to working with him."
