RIVERSIDE --- Lourdes Bosch recorded a late game-winner for California Baptist University on Saturday night, as the Lancers took down the Redhawks of Seattle U.
CBU improves to 5-1-2 on the season, and a perfect 2-0 in Western Athletic Conference play, while the Redhawks fall to 4-5-2 and 1-1-1 in the WAC. The win also extends the Lancers' win streak to three straight games.
"The consistency of our performance tonight was not up to our standards," said head coach Kristen St. Clair. "However, over the course of a long season, teams must find ways to win despite an off performance. The important thing is we found a way to get three points tonight. Our defense really stepped up when called upon, and Noa made a spectacular save to keep the game level until we found the game-winner. On the game-winner, Ari did a tremendous job of getting off the cross, and Lourdes scored a brilliant header. This is a valuable lesson for our young squad that in a conference as good as ours, we cannot afford not to have a sharp, consistent performance every game."Defensively, Noa Schumacher and the Lancers' backline were in true form for the 90 minutes of action. Schumacher, who was named this week's TicketSmarter WAC Defensive Player of the Week, showcased why she earned her second WAC award with six saves on the night. Her biggest came at the 55th minute after a Redhawk player produced a header to the bottom right corner on a corner kick.

The Lancers were able to make a late run, as Ari Coronado found some room down the left side and hit a perfect cross inside the box. Bosch came crashing in and produced an acrobatic header to beat the Redhawk keeper for her first game-winner of the season. It marks the second straight game Bosch has recorded a goal.
Karley Weeks paced the Lancers' offense with three shots, while Bosch, Marcella Brooks, and Kaylee Hauck all recorded two apiece.
