Taran Armstrong Wins WAC Player of the Week

ARLINGTON--- California Baptist University guard Taran Armstrong was named the Western Athletic Conference Player of the Week for the first time in his career. Armstrong earned the honor after a stellar road trip vs. UT Arlington and URGV.
Armstrong averaged 21.5 points per game, six assists, and 4.5 rebounds per game in the two games while maintaining a 3:1 Assist to Turnover ratio. He made 11 out of 12 free throws en route to tying a career-high with 24 points in the win over UT Arlington. Armstrong had previously set his personal best in the overtime loss to Minnesota at the SoCal Challenge earlier this season. Taran also tied a season-high with seven assists against the Mavericks.
Armstrong is currently the conference leader in assists per game (4.9) and total assists (108) and leads CBU in both categories.
The Lancers are currently 13-9 overall with a 5-4 conference record and are currently in a three-way tie for sixth place with Grand Canyon and Tarleton State.
The sophomore guard was the 2021-2022 WAC Freshman of the Year and was named to this year's Preseason All-WAC First Team.
