Barrington Leads Lancers Past Redhawks with Career Scoring Mark

SEATTLE – Kinsley Barrington and the California Baptist University women's basketball team have won three of their past four games after a convincing 74-62 victory over Seattle U on Thursday night. CBU is now 8-1 against the Redhawks all-time, having won the previous six meetings.

Barrington, a Washington state native, paced the Lancers with 21 points off the bench, a new collegiate career high. She did so efficiently, going 8-13 (61.5%) from the field while grabbing five rebounds and recording a block and a steal.

Grace Schmidt broke double-figures, ending the game with 11 points and five rebounds. Chloe Webb nearly collected her second double-double of the year, finishing the night with 10 points and nine rebounds.

Dorcas Wu did a little bit of everything, filling the stat sheet with eight points, eight boards, and a career-high five blocks. Nae Nae Calhoun also made her presence known, scoring four but dishing out eight assists and snatching four steals.

The Redhawks started hot, leading throughout the entire first period, building an early lead of 10 midway through. But the Lancers brought that down to just one point at the end of the first and opened the second on a 6-0 run, and never trailed again.

A four-point lead at the half quickly turned into 15 before the end of the third quarter allowing the breathing room while battling foul trouble. CBU was called for 29 fouls during the game, the most this season in regulation, as eight of the 11 players who saw action ended the contest with three or more fouls.

The win bumps the Lancer record to 6-8 overall and 2-1 in Western Athletic Conference play. The Lancers' road trip will continue on Saturday as CBU visits Orem, Utah, to take on Utah Valley (4-10, 1-2 WAC) in the UCCU Center. That game is set for a 1:00 pm Pacific start time.
