Lancers Stumble at Louisiana Tech

RUSTON, LA - California Baptist University women's basketball team dropped its first game of the 2023-24 season, falling 77-51 to LA Tech. Despite the setback, the Lancers remain on top of the WAC standings at 9-1 (2-0), with one more non-conference game before Christmas Break.

It was as bad of a start as the Lancers' have had this season, going 0-7 from the field and falling behind 12-0 to begin the game. The Lady Techsters would never relent, shooting 46.7% from the field while holding CBU to just 27.5%. LA Tech simply played sound, fundamental basketball, winning the rebounding battle by 20 and only turning the ball over a dozen times.

Three Lancers' broke through to double-digit scoring in the final frame, led by Khloe Lemon's 13 points. Emily Sewell posted a season-high 11 points, and Filipa Barros made it back-to-back games in double figures with 10 points.

CBU will close out the non-conference schedule for the season on Wednesday with a midday game against Texas Southern. That game will tip at noon Pacific time and will be live-streamed on the TSU YouTube page.
