CBU Stays Perfect in Homecoming Games

RIVERSIDE--- The California Baptist University Lancers were thrown a curveball on Friday night when it was announced that their scheduled Homecoming game against the New Mexico State Aggies would be canceled. Instead, the West Coast Baptist Eagles would be their opponent. The NCCAA West Region team from Lancaster, California, entered the contest averaging 84 points per game. The Lancers won the game handily by a final score of 132-46.
CBU grabs their 14th win and has been victorious on all four of their homecoming games since entering Division 1.
The Lancers hit the offensive glass in the opening period in the first half, grabbing 12 and a rebounding total of 31. Juhlawnei Stone led the shock troops with an efficient line of ten points and three blocks on 4-4 shooting. Keanu Rasmussen set a new career high in the first half with eight points on 3-4 shooting. The Lancers scored 66 points in the opening frame and shot 55% as a team. All ten Lancers who played scored in the first half as CBU led 66-25 over the Eagles.
The Lancers put on an impressive offensive display in the second half led by Stone. Stone finished with a career-high 36 points on 15-16 shooting, topping his previous record by 24 points. Reed Nottage notched a triple-double in the game with ten points, 11 rebounds, and 11 assists in 24 minutes of play.
The Eagles were led by Luca Hernandez, who scored 15 points from behind the arc with five triples. The Lancers posted six players in double figures on the night led by Stone.
Next, the Lancers will face the Seattle U Redhawks on Wednesday, February 15th, at 7 pm in the CBU Events Center.
