FEDERAL WAY, WA -Â Â The final day of Zone E Qualifiers for NCAA Diving National qualifying saw Evan Honer and Gael Jimenez make the men's platform event finals.
Jimenez just missed an automatic bid in the platform event with his seventh-place finish but still qualified for the Championships as his point total of 622.30 secured a top-12 placement. That result, combined with his two automatic qualifications in the springboard events, earns him a trip to Minnesota in all three competitions.
Honer closes out his incredible CBU career with a top-10 finish in the platform event, claiming ninth place overall with a score of 607.50. He made the finals of all three events in the Zone E Qualifiers, finishing strong in all three events with 14th (3-meter) and 12th (1-meter) place finishes on Monday and Tuesday.
Freshmen Natalia Bedolla and John Angelovic competed in the preliminary rounds of the 1-meter and platform events, respectively, gaining valuable experience as they close out their debut campaigns. Bedolla finished 29th out of 51 divers in the 1-meter event with a score of 234.85. Angelovic finished tied for 20th after the preliminary stage with a score of 247.50.
Jimenez will prepare to travel to Minneapolis, Minnesota, with fellow Lancer Remi Fabiani, who was announced by the NCAA as a national qualifier in the 50 and 100 freestyle events. The two student-athletes will travel with coaches and staff to the University of Minnesota for the NCAA Division I National Championships set to be held March 22-25 at the Jean K. Freeman Aquatic Center.
