RIVERSIDE--- After four seasons with the California Baptist University Lancers, Tre Armstrong has returned home and signed a professional contract with the Tasmania JackJumpers of the National Basketball League in Australia.
The JackJumpers are the newest member of the league and are located in Hobart, Australia, on the island of Tasmania. The JackJumpers debuted in the NBL in the 2021-2022 season and, in their first season, reached the finals.
Armstrong's father, Ben, is a seasoned coach and administrator in the region and has close ties to Tasmanian basketball, having played over 500 games in the Northwest Basketball Union on the island.
Armstrong is the D-1 era all-time leader in games and minutes played for CBU and also ranks in the top-5 in points, field goals, rebounds, assists, and steals. Armstrong scored a career-high 28 points in 2022 against Utah Valley and has hit six threes in a single game twice for CBU against La Verne and Lamar.
In his senior season, Armstrong started 22 of the team's 33 games, averaging seven points and four rebounds per game. Armstrong was second on the team in three-pointers made with 52 and led the team in 3p% at .372 (min. 50 attempts). In the opening round of the WAC Tournament, Armstrong scored a season-high 23 points on 5-6 perimeter shooting to lead the Lancers to a victory over Abilene Christian.
Armstrong will begin his next basketball journey beginning in the 2023-2024 season for the JackJumpers.
