Karinauskaite Named USTFCCCA Women's West Region Athlete of the Year

Karinauskaite beat out athletes from powerhouse West Region programs such as USC, Stanford, and Oregon to win the award. Greta put together a remarkable season, highlighted by winning a silver medal in the steeplechase at the DI Outdoor Track and Field National Championships in Austin last week.

Greta's personal best time of 9:26.88 that she set at the West Regionals was the fastest time ever recorded at that event and the fastest First Round time in NCAA history. The mark also set a new program record and was the fifth fastest time in NCAA history in the steeplechase. At Nationals, Greta ran the fourth fastest time in the event's history at 9:30.85 and brought home a First Team All-American honor. In the Western Athletic Conference Championships, she set a then-program record at 9:35.55 in the steeplechase and brought home the WAC Championships in the event for the second consecutive season.

During the regular season, Karinauskaite set the program record in the 5K at the Stanford Invitational with a mark of 15:36.86 and finished first in the 10K at the Ben Brown Invite.
