RIVERSIDE--- California Baptist enters the new week 2-1 after notching a win against NJIT and falling to Colorado State at home. The Lancers will now welcome both the University of Texas El Paso and the University of Texas San Antonio for another pair of home games at CBU Soccer Stadium.

THE LANCERS AT A GLANCE
CBU opened last week with a 3-1 win over the Highlanders to kick off their home schedule, with Kaylee Hauck and Lourdes Bosch both scoring to secure the win. The Lancers also faced Colorado State at home and fell to the Rams in a tight 1-0 loss.

Despite adding a loss to their record, the Lancers are still proving to be successful in the final third after tallying seven goals in three matches. Frida Murrieta and Bosch still lead the squad in goals, while Natalia Castro and Hauck each have one apiece. The seventh goal of the year was a team goal after a NJIT Highlander committed an own goal. The Lancer goalkeeper, Noa Schumacher, has seven saves on the year and has allowed three goals this season.

MATCH NOTES
While the match against UTEP will be a first for the Lancers, CBU is familiar with UTSA. The squads battled in Texas during the preseason of the 2021 campaign, and the Roadrunners walked away with a 3-0 win. Since their last meeting, UTSA has qualified for two Conference USA postseason tournaments and has made one NCAA Tournament appearance.

THE MINERS AT A GLANCE
UTEP opened the year with a 0-3-1 record after battling four tough opponents. The Miners fell to Northern Arizona 3-2 in their home opener to start the season and then traveled to San Diego, where they battled SDSU to a 2-1 loss. UTEP then returned to their home field and tied Abilene Christian with no goals, then dropped the match 2-0 to Arizona State.

While the squad does have three losses on the season, they have been in every game and have fallen by just one to two goals in every match. Three Miners are tied with a single goal this season, while Taya Lopez leads the pack with a goal and the lone assist in the last four matches. The UTEP goalkeeper, Tionna Taylor, already boasts 23 saves this season and anchors the defense to keep the Miners in the game.

THE ROADRUNNERS AT A GLANCE
UTSA currently holds a 3-1 record to open their 2023 campaign, tallying eight goals and allowing just three in four games. The Roadrunners most recently beat Texas State in a tight 1-0 match before they fell to Kansas State on the road 2-0.

Sophie Morrin leads the squad with two goals, coming up big in the Texas State match where she scored the game-winner. Alex Granville and Jordyn Hyland lead the squad with three assists each, while seven other Miners have one assist. The UTSA defense boasts three shutouts this season, while their starting keeper currently holds ten saves on the year.
