Barros Earns WAC Player of the Week Nod

RIVERSIDE - Sophomore guard Filipa Barros has been named the TicketSmarter Western Athletic Conference Player of the Week after posting back-to-back double-doubles for the first time in her career. The award is her first at CBU as she becomes the third different Lancer to earn the honor this season.
Filipa opened the weekend with a 15-point, 13-rebound performance in front of a record crowd against UTRGV on Thursday, her first-career double-double. She bested that stat line two days later against a strong Stephen F. Austin team, posting 22 points and 12 rebounds. She was also efficient in her efforts, shooting 14-29 (48.3%) from the field while also dishing out 11 assists.
Filipa and her Lancers have defended their home court in all nine opportunities so far this season but take the show back on the road next week for a single game at Seattle U on Saturday, February 3. Tipoff is scheduled for 1:00 p.m. in the Emerald City.
