Men's Diving Begins National Championship Run in Indianapolis

INDIANAPOLIS - California Baptist University divers Mario Del Valle and Gael Jimenez began their quest for national recognition on Thursday morning as the 1-meter springboard event began action for the duo.
Forty-seven competitors filled the prelim sheet in the first event for the divers. Of the two Lancers, Del Valle faired best, opening the weekend with a 39th-place finish in the opening event in his first-ever action at this national competition. Sophomore Jimenez returned to the national competition after qualifying in all three events last year as well, but today took 46th place overall.
Jimenez will be back at it again tomorrow as the lone representative for CBU on the 3-meter springboard. Prelims are set for 7:00 a.m. Pacific with consolation finals at 2:15 p.m. and championship finals at 3:00 p.m., all streamed live on ESPN+.
