RIVERSIDE --- The Western Athletic Conference (WAC) revealed the 2025-26 Preseason All-WAC Team and Coaches' Poll Tuesday morning. CBU, entering its final season in the WAC, was tabbed as the preseason favorite to win the conference, while guard Dominique Daniels Jr. has been named the WAC Preseason Player of the Year.
Daniels Jr. is entering his final season of eligibility and third with the Lancers. The 5-10 guard out of Compton was named First-Team All-WAC following a year in which he averaged a team-leading 19.6 PPG. Daniels Jr. played in and started all 29 games for the Lancers last season and dropped a season-high 36 points against Utah Tech.
On top of his team-high PPG average, Daniels Jr. also led the Lancers with 567 points, made field goals, and made free throws. His PPG average was the best in the Lancers' Division I era.
The WAC Preseason Player of the Year selection is the first in program history.
Joining Daniels Jr. on the Preseason All-WAC team are Bradyn Hubbard (Abilene Christian), Rayseason Seamster (UT Arlington), Ethan Potter (Utah Tech), and Trevan Leonhart (Utah Valley).
The current landscape of the WAS featured seven teams. The Lancers were voted by head coaches to win the WAC, collecting five of the seven first-place votes. CBU received 33 points in the poll. Utah Valley and UT Arlington also received a single first-place vote each.
Utah Valley (29), Abilene Christian (27), UT Arlington (22), Tarleton State (19), Utah Tech (9), and Southern Utah (8) round out the voting.
The Lancers enter the 2025-26 season knowing it will be their final run at a WAC championship. CBU announced earlier this year that it will transition to the Big West Conference in the summer of 2026.
Basketball season begins in less than one week as the Lancers will welcome USC-Upstate to Riverside on Monday, November 3. The opening night matchup is part two of a doubleheader, which begins with women's basketball taking on UC Riverside at 5 p.m. The men's game is scheduled for 7:30 p.m.
CBU's final run through the WAC will begin on December 29 with a visit to Utah Valley. The conference schedule starts with three straight on the road before the Lancers welcome Utah Tech to Riverside on January 8 for the conference home opener.
