MBB Preview: UC Riverside to Visit CBU for Final Non-Conference Crosstown Showdown

RIVERSIDE --- The annual meeting of Riverside's two Division I programs, California Baptist and UC Riverside, is on the schedule for Tuesday night. In the final meeting of the Lancers and Highlanders as non-conference rivals, the Lancers will look to start 4-0 for the first time in four years.
CBU is coming off a home victory against Western Illinois on Friday night. Guard Dominique Daniels Jr. dropped 22 points to lead the way, while Martel Williams picked up his first CBU double-double with 13 points and 12 rebounds. Devon Malcolm dropped a career-high 11 points as well.
The Lancers dominated the glass in their win against the Leathernecks. CBU pulled down 50 boards, 21 coming on the offensive end, with WIU pulling down 29 boards. Thomas Ndong led the Lancers with 14 rebounds and enters Tuesday night averaging 10.5 RPG.
Tuesday night is game two of a three-game homestand for CBU. The Lancers will welcome Grambling State to the Fowler Events Center on Friday, after which the Lancers will not play a home game until December 16.
The Highlanders, a future conference foe of CBU in the Big West, are .500 (2-2) to start the season but have lost their last two outings. UCR opened the season with a 90-49 win against La Sierra and then traveled to Grand Forks to beat North Dakota.
North Dakota made a return trip to Riverside to beat the Highlanders. UCR also lost on the road against New Mexico.
Andrew Henderson leads the Highlanders as one of three players averaging double figures. Henderson is posting 17.0 PPG. Marqui Worthy Jr. is averaging 16.0 PPG, and Osiris Grady has posted 15.0 PPG.
The Highlanders are averaging 76.5 PPG through four outings, with opponents posting 63.9 points against UCR. The Lancers have been averaging 75.0 PPG, and have dropped 69 in back-to-back outings. Opponents are scoring 65.0 PPG on the Lancers.
