Lauren Olsen Wins WAC Newcomer of the Week

RIVERSIDE--- True Freshman Lauren Olsen wasted no time earning Western Athletic Conference accolades as she collected this week's Newcomer of the Week honors.
Olsen helped the Lancers go 2-0 this week with a road win at Long Beach State and a home victory over San Jose State to keep CBU undefeated thus far this season. The Douglas, Wyoming native averaged 19 points per game in the two victories, all while coming off the bench.
Olsen began the week with a 15-point effort in a wire-to-wire victory over Long Beach State on the road. Olsen was second on the team in scoring in the win, connecting on three triples and hauling in five rebounds. Olsen followed up that victory with 23 points to lead the Lancers on Friday against San Jose State. Olsen scored 1/3 of CBU's points in the victory, hitting four of her six three-point attempts, and had four steals.
Her 23 points against San Jose State were only her second-highest scoring output of the season after she scored a season-high 27 points in a road win at Pacific last week. The 27 points were one of the CBU freshman scoring records. Olsen is currently leading the Lancers in scoring at 16.8 points per game and is second in steals and three-pointers made, all while coming off the bench.
Olsen and the Lancers are back in action this Wednesday at home against CSUN, with tipoff set for 6 PM.
