RIVERSIDE--- Filipa Barros of the California Baptist University women's basketball team continued her strong start to the season by earning Western Athletic Conference Player of the Week honors behind a strong solo outing against CSUN.
Barros scored a season-high 24 points on 60% shooting from the floor and connected on a career-best six triples. Barros would also collect 11 rebounds and dish out a season-high seven assists as the Lancers would blow out CSUN 86-54 in the Fowler Events Center.
Barros has been on an early-season tear, leading the team in rebounding, steals, and assists after missing the majority of last season with an ankle injury. The redshirt junior is currently seventh in the NCAA in rebounding (#1 among guards), third in steals per game, and is one of four players with a triple-double in the country. Barros, in just four games, has already set new career best marks in single-game rebounding, three pointers made, assists, and steals.
Barros and the Lancers are back in action this weekend as they host the CBU Classic, beginning with a matchup against UC Santa Barbara on Friday, November 28, at 12 PM in Riverside.
