VB Preview: CBU Hosts Southern Utah and Utah Tech During Senior Week

RIVERSIDE--- The California Baptist University volleyball squad will finish up its home schedule this week as it plays host to Southern Utah and Utah Tech in Van Dyne Gym.
The Lancers are currently in the sixth spot in the Western Athletic Conference standings with the conference tournament looming. This final stretch of games will be crucial as the Lancers aim to improve their seeding and gain momentum heading into the postseason.
The first match of the week will be a special one as it will be Senior Night with three Lancers being honored in a special ceremony ahead of first serve. Reese Reed, Olivia Melton, and Eliana Posada will all be celebrated in the pre-game festivities after their incredible contributions to the program. The matchup on Senior Day will be against the Thunderbirds of Southern Utah, who come into the match with a 1-8 record in league play and a 2-18 overall record. The Thunderbirds' only conference win came against the Lancers in a five-set thriller in Cedar City early in the schedule. CBU has never lost to Southern Utah at home in the matchup history, with a perfect 4-0 record when playing in Van Dyne Gym.
The final match of the week will take place on Saturday afternoon against Utah Tech. The Trailblazers are fighting for a first-round bye in the conference tournament, as they currently sit one game behind Utah Valley in the standings. In the previous matchup, the Trailblazers defeated the Lancers in straight sets at Burns Arena, picking up just their second win in the last seven matchups with CBU. The Lancers have yet to lose at home on a Saturday this season and will look to keep that streak alive when the Trailblazers come to town for a 1 PM first serve.
