RIVERSIDE --- Graduate guard Dominique Daniels Jr. was named the WAC Player of the Week on Monday, marking the sixth honor of his CBU career. The award comes after Daniels Jr. dropped 30+ points in back-to-back games, as CBU ended their road trip with a win over Eastern Washington.
Daniels Jr. scored a season-high 34 points on Friday night as the Lancers snapped a three-game losing streak with an 88-83 win in Washington. Daniels Jr. finished 10-of-21 from the field, adding a 12-for-14 showing at the free-throw line.
He also pulled down four rebounds, dished out three assists, and recorded three steals in his 40-minute performance. Friday night was the second consecutive game for Daniels Jr. to eclipse 30 points. He dropped 31 points on 13-of-28 from the field in a loss at Utah on December 6.
Friday night marked history for Daniels Jr. as well, as he surpassed Milan Acquaah for the most career points in CBU's Division I history. Daniels Jr. has now scored 1,179 points in his three-year career with the Lancers.
Through ten appearances, Daniels Jr. is averaging 20.8 PPG. Entering Monday, Daniels Jr. has the third-best PPG average in Division I.
