ARLINGTON, Texas – The Western Athletic Conference (WAC) announced on Friday its Women's and Men's Swimming and Diving Pre-Championship Coaches' Poll, presented by soldout.com, as voted on by the league's nine women's and six men's head coaches. Northern Arizona was chosen to finish first for the women, while UNLV was predicted to take the top spot for the men.
The Lumberjacks and Rebels were voted ahead of Grand Canyon, who finished runner-up in both the men's and women's polls. New Mexico State rounded out the women's top three, while California Baptist capped off the men's side of the pre-championship coaches' polls for the final WAC Swimming and Diving Championship.
The Lancer men will no doubt be paced by senior Remi Fabiani, who holds the top time in four events coming into Championship weekend. Teammate Andrija Petkovic ranks in the top three in four events, and Mark Kovacsics is the heavy time favorite for entering the distance events. Mario Del Valle and Gael Jimenez will likely find each other as their top competition as usual, with CBU expected to dominate the diving portion of the championship for a fifth-straight season. Additional podium seed times from Tyler Mansheim, Jon Reiter, and the relay teams have the Lancers poised for their best WAC Swim and Dive Championship weekend in program history.
