RIVERSIDE--- Kendal Coleman, for the first time this season, was recognized as the Western Athletic Conference Player of the Week following an incredible Saturday night performance at Grand Canyon.
Coleman, a senior forward, scored 24 points on 9-13 shooting against the Lopes and also showed off his perimeter prowess with four triples on the night. The scoring output was Coleman's second-highest of the season after scoring a career-high 32 points in the Acrisure Invitational against SMU in non-conference action. Coleman was also highly active on the defensive side of the ball, as he would lead the team with seven rebounds and add in a block and a steal in 31 minutes of action.
CBU was without the services of the WAC's leading scorer, Dominique Daniels Jr., for their bout against the Lopes, but Coleman's impressive night helped the Lancers nearly pull off a 20-point comeback in Phoenix with a final score of 66-64 going in the home team's favor. The Player of the Week Award is the first in the career of Coleman and the fourth time the Lancers have brought home the award with Daniels Jr. collecting three already this season.
Coleman and the Lancers are back in action this Thursday night as they travel to Seattle for a critical matchup with the Redhawks at 7 PM PT at the Redhawk Center.
