FEDERAL WAY, WA - The men's NCAA Swimming and Diving Championships continued on Friday with swimmer Remi Fabiani and diver Mario Del Valle representing California Baptist University.
Fabiani took to the pool first in the day's third event, the 100 backstroke. Fabiani finished 8th in the third heat of the race, touching in a time of 47.39 seconds, ending his day in 44th overall. Del Valle started his 3-meter event strong enough, but below-average third and fifth-round scores sank his chances on Friday. He would go on to finish in 50th place with a score of 247.85.
Saturday will be the final opportunity for the trio of Lancers, as Mark Kovacsics will return to the pool with his teammates to compete in their final events of the season. Del Valle and the divers will move up to the platform event, Kovacsics and the other distance warriors will go at it in the longest race of the meet, the 1,650-yard freestyle, and Fabini will have his best shot at a podium finish as he takes part in the 100 freestyle race. Fabiani enters the 100 free with the eighth-fastest seed time, 41.23. Prelims begin again at 10:00 a.m. Pacific time on ESPN+.
