RIVERSIDE--- California Baptist baseball secured its series against Air Force on Saturday afternoon after downing the Falcons 13-5 behind hot bats from the Lancers. Despite the visitors taking a small lead in the fourth inning, CBU remained calm and put up three back-to-back multi-run innings for the victory. California Baptist is now 6-9 on the season, while Air Force drops to 4-11.
Jacob Wilson came out of the gates hot for the Lancers, sitting down the top of the order in a quick 1-2-3 inning. The sixth-year righty continued his dominance into the second inning with another strikeout before the Falcons found a rhythm going into the third. AF managed to plate three runs in the top of the third for their first lead of the series, but the Lancers rallied with a three-run inning of their own.
CBU managed to completely flip the script in the bottom of the fifth with six runs that was highlighted by a double from Chris Ramirez and Jake Brown's second home run of the day. Bubba Rocha cleaned up in the next inning with a two-run dinger for his second homer of the season. For the second game in a row, four Lancers had multi-hit nights, but Brown led the way with a trio of RBI and a pair of home runs. The CBU pitching staff gave up 10 hits, but a solid defense with 10 strikeouts on the night would give way to the Lancers' sixth win of the season.
California Baptist will look for its first sweep of the season tomorrow afternoon at 12 p.m. tomorrow as they welcome the Falcons back for the series finale.
