RIVERSIDE, CA--- The California Baptist University women's volleyball team released its full 2025 schedule on Friday afternoon, featuring 24 matches in the first year of new Head Coach Trevor Johnson and his staff.
The season will kick off on the road as the Lancers will take part in The Ridge Invitational hosted by Cal State Northridge, facing Pacific in the first match of the tournament. CBU will also face Idaho State and CSUN in the multi-team event. The Lancers will stay on the road to begin the season and will travel up to Northern California to compete in the Santa Clara Mission Classic against Santa Clara, UNLV, and Portland State. CBU will open at home in The Joust Tournament against Cal State Fullerton and will also play host to Portland State and the University of New Mexico during the three-day tournament. Coach Johnson's squad will conclude its non-conference action at Cal Poly, where they will face the University of Utah, Saint Mary's College, and host school Cal Poly in the SLO Classic.
In CBU's final season in the Western Athletic Conference, they will open at home against Tarleton in the Fowler Events Center before hosting Abilene Christian at its usual venue, Van Dyne Gym. The first conference road trip will be in the Beehive State against Southern Utah and Utah Tech, and the Lancers will finish up the conference schedule in mid-November against ACU on the road. Postseason action will begin on November 20 as Utah Valley University will host the WAC Volleyball Championships in Orem, Utah, for the second time in three years.
Coach Johnson's first season at the helm for CBU will feature a good blend of returners and newcomers as the Lancers will look to build off a season in which they won their first ever WAC tournament match against Utah Tech and nearly pulled off the upset against the reigning WAC Champions the UT Arlington Mavericks in a five-set thriller at the College Park Center.
"We've built a challenging preseason to prepare our team for the demands of conference play and to shape a resilient, purpose-driven team. With a mix of returning leaders and new talent, we are ready to compete with grit, represent CBU with humility, and honor the Lord in the way we work and play," said Coach Johnson.
