ST. GEORGE, UT--- The California Baptist University women's basketball team extended its conference win streak to four games on Thursday evening at the Burns Arena.
The Lancers are 4-0 in conference play for the first time since 2023, and it was their first conference road victory of the season. The win also extends its road win streak over Utah Tech to nine games in a row. CBU is now 10-7 overall while the Trailblazers fall to 5-8 overall and 0-3 in WAC play.
CBU and Utah Tech went back and forth over the opening minutes of the contest with no team's lead growing larger than four points in the first half of action. Both teams shot the ball well from the field and the perimeter in the opening 20 minutes of action as the Trailblazers would cling to a 37-34 lead at the break.
Both teams continued to compete equally hard in the third period as the back-and-forth affair continued. CBU would score the first eight points of the frame to recapture the lead behind the made triples by Lauren Olsen and Shawnee Nordstrom to force a Utah Tech timeout. The Trailblazers fought right back into the ball game over the next few minutes and would eventually regain the lead with 2:04 to play in the third period.
The Lancers would control the tempo and scoring early on in the fourth quarter, consistently holding a two-possession lead in the opening few minutes. The game would be tied once again with 4:43 to play, but the Lancers would finish the game on an 11-3 run that would put the game away and give CBU its fourth straight win at 75-67.
Khloe Lemon would lead all scorers in the game with 18 points on 50% shooting, all in just 24 minutes off the pine. Nordstrom would score a career-best 16 points in the game on six made field goals, while the reigning WAC Player and Newcomer of the Week, Lauren Olsen, would score her usual 16 points on efficient shooting. Filipa Barros collected another double-double with 11 points and 12 rebounds.
NEXT: The Lancers will continue their road trip in the Beehive State on Saturday afternoon with a matchup against Southern Utah for a 1 PM PT tip-off in Cedar City.
