RIVERSIDE--- The California Baptist University women's volleyball team dropped its Saturday night contest to the Sacramento State Hornets in straight sets. CBU's winning streak halts at three games as they fall to 6-17, and the Hornets will improve to 7-5 in the Big West standings.
The Hornets capitalized on multiple errors in the opening set as they dominated the frame to the tune of 25-11 for the early 1-0 lead. The Lancers improved in the second set on the error side, but the Hornets continued to hit very efficiently and would pull out the 25-20 set win for the commanding 2-0 lead.
The Hornets jumped out early in the third set with a 15-7 lead and would lead by as many as nine at 20-11. CBU would mount a late-set comeback, scoring seven out of eight points to force the Hornets to use both of their timeouts. The Hornets would stave off the comeback and take the set 25-21 and the match in three.
NEXT: The Lancers will hit the road next weekend, beginning with a matchup with CSUN on Thursday, November 5, in Northridge.
