
Daniels Jr. Named Player of the Week for the Fifth Time this Season

RIVERSIDE --- Guard Dominique Daniels Jr. has been named the Western Athletic Conference (WAC) Player of the Week for the fifth time this season. The graduate guard averaged over 30 PPG last week as the Lancers went 1-1 in Utah.
Daniels Jr. is averaging 22.4 PPG through 25 games this season, which ranks sixth in Division I. AJ Dybantsa of BYU leads the country with 24.4 PPG.
The Lancers went 1-1 last week, moving them to 9-4 in WAC action with five games remaining in the regular season. CBU is tied with Utah Tech for first place in the conference, but the Lancers do own two victories over the Trailblazers in their three meetings this season.
CBU's road trip began on Thursday with a visit to Southern Utah. Daniels Jr. eclipsed 30 points for the fourth time this season as he finished with 32 on 12-of-24 from the field. Daniels Jr. connected on 3-of-6 from three-point range and sank 5-of-6 from the charity stripe. The Lancers were victorious, 83-66.
Daniels Jr. followed up his outing in Cedar City with a 29-point showing against Utah Tech on Saturday. Daniels Jr. played all 40 minutes and sank five 3-pointers, the most he's connected on this season.
The strong scoring weekend pushed Daniels Jr. to 560 points on the season, putting him seven points behind his career-high of 567 he finished with last year. For his career, Daniels Jr. now has 2,985 points between his time with San Bernardino Valley College and CBU, placing him 15 points away from 3,000 for his collegiate career.
Daniels Jr. has scored 1,531 points in his time with CBU, the most in CBU's Division I era.
The Lancers will be back in action this week when they return to Utah to play Utah Valley. UVU is 8-4 entering the week, a half game behind CBU and Utah Tech. The Lancers and Wolverines have split their previous two meetings, with each team winning on its home floor.
Thursday's clash in Orem is scheduled for 5 p.m. (PT).
