
CBU Competes in the 1500's at the Bob Larsen Distance Carnival on Friday Evening

LOS ANGELES, CA--- 1500's were the name of the game on Friday evening for the California Baptist University track team as they competed in the Bob Larsen Distance Carnival hosted by UCLA.
CBU competed in 12 total heats in the 1500 portion of the distance carnival, with nearly the entire team competing in the loaded field.
The women went first on the evening, with 14 ladies running in six heats for the Lancers. In the fastest heat of the evening, Isalys Huet would pace CBU with a time of 4:29.79, which was good enough for the fifth fastest time of the event. Sarah Schiffman and Mahaut Cooren would both finish in the top ten, with times of 4:27.66 and 4:32.94, respectively. Lamiae Mamouni finished fourth in her heat and would have the 11th fastest time of the event at 4:26.95. Petra Kis would podium in her heat with a third-place finish at 4:34.73.
The men would finish up the evening with 17 Lancers competing across six heats of the event. In the fastest heat, the Lancers would fare well in the field with two finishers in the top five, led by Gabriel Guzman in third at 3:43.69. Manuel Rojas continued his impressive outdoor season in fifth at 3:44.92 while Finn Anspach and Ernesto Ruiz both placed in the top 8 for Sean Smith. Lorenzo Riba podiumed in his heat with a second-place finish at 3:48.38.
NEXT: The Lancers will head to Northern California to compete in the prestigious Stanford Invite on April 3 and 4 in Palo Alto.
