Daniels Jr. Claims WAC’s Final Player of the Week Nod

RIVERSIDE --- For the seventh time this season, and the final time of his collegiate career, Dominique Daniels Jr. has been named the WAC Player of the Week. Daniels Jr. averaged 27 PPG last week as the Lancers went 2-0 to close out the final week of the season.
The Lancers earned victories over Abilene Christian and Southern Utah last week, capping off a 23-8 regular season and a 13-5 showing in conference action. CBU's 23 wins are the most in their Division I era, and CBU also finished undefeated at home with a 15-0 mark.
Daniels Jr. was one of five seniors wrapping up their final regular season. He was joined by Jayden Jackson, Miles Daniels, Monty Bowser, and Martel Williams as the five seniors honored during Thursday night's senior ceremony.
Senior Night was capped off with a dominating 87-48 victory over Abilene Christian. Daniels Jr. dropped 22 points in 23 minutes, doing so on 9-of-13 from the field.
He followed up his senior night performance with a 32-point showing on the road Saturday night, as the Lancers concluded the regular season with an 82-75 victory against Southern Utah. Daniles Jr. finished 12-of-20 from the field against the Thunderbirds.
Saturday night was the sixth 30-point performance by Daniels Jr. this season.
Daniels Jr. ends the regular season averaging 22.6 PPG, the eighth-best scoring average in the nation. He is only 0.2 PPG shy of jumping into the top five in scoring average.
CBU closed out the regular season as the second-place team in the WAC standings. Utah Valley finished first and claimed the outright WAC regular season championship with its double overtime victory against Utah Tech on Saturday. CBU could have finished with a share of the WAC title with a Utah Valley loss.
By placing second, the Lancers automatically advance to the semifinals of the WAC Tournament in Las Vegas. CBU will play on Friday night, with tip-off being scheduled for 8:30 p.m. A win will send CBU to the WAC Championship Game on Saturday.
Friday's game will be streamed live on ESPN+. The WAC Championship Game will be aired on ESPN2.
