AZUSA, CA--- Four CBU Track athletes competed on Saturday night at the Franson Invite as they sought NCAA qualifying marks ahead of the postseason.
Helena Mees began the evening at Azusa in the Women's 1500m. Mees would finish 10th in the fastest heat of the evening and would finish 12th overall with a time of 4:28.51. The time was three seconds off her personal best time that she set at the Aztec Coastal Classic, and she would miss a qualifying mark by a handful of seconds.
Lorenzo Riba and Manuel Rojas would also compete in the 1500 on the men's side in the second heat. Riba would set a new personal best with a time of 3:46.06, besting his previous time by two seconds. Rojas would come in a few seconds later with a time of 3:53.52 to finish 13th in the heat. Nicolai Martino would finalize the evening in the steeplechase as we look to build on his incredible performance at the Payton Jordan Invite last weekend. Martino would finish second in the heat with an impressive time of 8:58,08, which would be one second shy of his PB set last week and would miss the qualifying list by eight seconds.
NEXT: The Lancers will hit the road to Arlington, TX, next week as they compete in the 2026 WAC OTF Championships.
