Martel Williams Signs Professional Contract in Germany

RIVERSIDE --- Martel Williams, a member of the Lancers during the program's first WAC Tournament championship and March Madness appearance, has inked his first professional deal. Williams, a Second-Team All-WAC selection last season, will play professionally for Germany's PS Karlsruhe Lions.
PS Karlsruhe Lions compete in ProA, part of 2. Basketball Bundesliga. ProA is one of two leagues in the German organization: ProA and ProB. PS Karlsruhe Lions finished 17-17 last season.
Williams, a native of Las Vegas, played his final two collegiate seasons with the Lancers after transferring from Utah State Eastern. Williams appeared in 58 games with CBU, starting 47 of those. He averaged 10.7 PPG and 3.6 RPG.
The 2025-26 season was Williams' best with CBU as he averaged 12.8 PPG while starting 33 games, which was tied for the most on the team. He matched his career-high of 23 points in a win against Abilene Christian on January 15. He also dropped 23 points against LIU in the 2024-25 season.
Williams dropped double-figures 27 times last season, ending his collegiate career with a 15-point performance against Kansas in the opening round of March Madness. The March Madness berth came after CBU defeated Utah Valley in the WAC Championship Game, clinching the first Division I National Tournament appearance in program history.
His career included many highlights, most notably a dunk against UC Riverside in his first season with the Lancers that landed in SportsCenter's Top Ten plays.
Williams becomes the second CBU player from the WAC Championship team to ink a professional deal, joining Dominique Daniels Jr., who signed with the New Orleans Pelicans' Summer League team earlier this month.
