Lancers Drop Final Match of the USF Challenge to the Dons

SAN FRANCISCO, CA--- The California Baptist University volleyball team closed out the USF Challenge on Saturday afternoon with a three-set loss to the host San Francisco Dons at the Sobrato Center.
The Lancers finalize non-conference action 3-8 and will begin their first season as Big West members next weekend.
The Lancers were competitive early against the Dons, erasing a seven-point deficit to pull within two points. USF would quickly build back up its lead with a 10-0 run that would turn into a 12-2 run to close out the set with a 25-13 victory and the early 1-0 lead. Nothing went right in the second set for the Lancers as the Dons boasted a 14-0 run in the period that would completely take the Lancers out of the set and would finalize another double-digit period loss for CBU.
The third set would get away from the Lancers early, and they would be unable to recover, resulting in a 25-16 final set score and a 3-0 match loss to the Dons. Audrey Heiring and Eleftheria Baxa would lead the offense with seven kills apiece.
NEXT: The Lancers will open up Big West conference play on the road next weekend as they face Utah Valley and Sacramento State.
